Founded as a company in the beginning of the 20th century, inby the hands of Manuel de Almeida, with designation "Almeida em Comandita", Barros was at the time mainly dedicated to the Port Wine trade, reason why it was located in Vila Nova de Gaia.
Established in - Barros is renowned for producing consistently high-quality Port wines. Like most, they have vineyards and primary processing facilities in the Douro Valley - with their ageing cellars located in Vila Nova de Gaia. A great deal of their success came from Old Tawnies - complex wines matured in oak casks.
On the nose it is a rich and complex combination of dried fruits, spices and subtle hints of wood. Elegant, well-structured and full-bodied, with a long and engaging finish. Barros House embrace the families of Tawny, ruby and port wine. Famously known around the world for the LBV and Vintage port wine. Barros Tawny 10 Years Old reveals overwhelmed by aromas of dried fruit with delicste notes of vanilla and chocolate.
It is a very full-bodied, luscious wine drawn from the same vineyards as Graham's Vintage Ports. Blended from two or three years' harvests, the wine is an average of five to six years old when bottled. Cinnamon, black tea and hazelnut notes fill in the background. Shows some power, with the cut and drive for balance.
